“She’s a total survivor” ❤️️
When Ribbles’ owners abandoned her on a Southern California railway, the 1-year-old puppy had two options: stay on the busy lines where she had last seen her folks, or walk off and attempt to find them. Though the brave pup had to fend for herself, she hoped her family would return for her.
As a result, she sat and waited.
Thankfully, a kind stranger noticed the terrified dog attempting to avoid a speeding train and realized she had to assist.
“She attempted to grab her, but the dog was just too nervous,” Logan’s Legacy rescue founder Suzette Hall told The Dodo. “That’s when she phoned me for assistance.”
When Hall arrived on the scene, the dog was precisely where the kind citizen had seen her, and she was in danger.
“I think the train came five times while I was there,” Hall added. “She’d rush into that small hole every time it arrived.”
Hall discovered that the hole went to a local auto dealership. Employees at the dealership told her that they had placed food out for Ribbles and that she may sleep there at night.
Hall asked if she could set up a trap on the dealership’s property, and they agreed. She set up her trap without missing a beat and turned to soothe the dog.
“I put her meal down and began chatting to her,” Hall explained. “‘This is where your meal is tonight,’ I told her.”
Ribbles, however, declined to enter the trap with Hall around. So the savior went, only to return the next morning to see something resembling Ribbles on the rails.
“I believed it was her,” Hall explained. “But it was a scavenging band of coyotes.”
Hall approached the trap, terrified for the pup. Ribbles was securely inside, much to her relief, allowing Hall to retrieve Ribbles and transport her to the vet.
“I’m looking for a foster family for her because she needs a place to relax,” Hall explained. “Right now, that’s the most essential thing.”
Hall can’t stop thinking about how courageous Ribbles is as she continues to hunt for the right foster home for him.
“She intuitively understood what to do to keep safe, from the trains to the coyotes,” Hall added. “She’s an absolute survivor.”
