The Belgian Blue bull breed is the result of 50 years of manipulated breeding in Belgium with the aim of obtaining a breed that would produce a lot of milk and meat.
But the bulls, unfortunately, developed health problems, which sparked a debate.
Throughout history, many species have been bred through human intervention. Humans have greatly modified most of the animals in their environment, which now show many differences from their ancestors.
Belgian cattle emerged in the 19th century from the crossing of a Dutch breed and a short-horned breed. The result was this Belgian breed.
The meat of this bull is, according to some, one of the most terrifying examples of what happens when man manipulates nature.
This breed is criticized for being “mobile meat factories” with enormous muscles. An adult bull of this breed weighs between 1.1 and 1.2 tons. The animal’s body contains protein to enhance muscle growth, which makes its muscles much more developed than normal.
This genetic mutation has been shown to produce other effects such as deforming the jaw and enlarging the tongue, which makes it difficult for their offspring to suckle.
Mutations can also cause organs such as the liver and lungs to develop poorly, which can lead to respiratory problems, heart problems and infertility, Illustrerad Vetenskap reports .
Some countries have decided to boycott the meat of these animals.
