Lorain County Emergency Management (EMA) in Ohio is urging residents and eclipse enthusiasts within the path of totality to prepare for the upcoming total solar eclipse on April 8 by stocking up on essential supplies.

With an anticipated influx of visitors to areas along the eclipse’s path, Lorain County EMA is advising locals to ensure they have an adequate supply of food, water, and fuel to accommodate the surge in population.

The upcoming total solar eclipse promises to be a remarkable celestial event, coinciding with the solar maximum and offering potential sightings of Baily’s beads. Unlike the 2017 eclipse, where the Sun was nearing solar minimum, viewers may witness a more intricate solar corona due to the Sun’s magnetic activity during solar maximum.

NASA explains that during the 2024 eclipse, viewers may observe streamers throughout the corona, as well as prominences—bright, pink curls or loops emanating from the Sun.

Stretching from Mexico to Canada, the path of totality for this eclipse is wider than in 2017, providing more individuals with the opportunity to witness the awe-inspiring sight of the Sun’s corona.
