Polished but whimsical, Russian photographer Andy Seliverstoff’s fascinating oeuvre demonstrates both his enormous talent and his profound soft spot for dogs. His pup-centric portfolio includes a plethora of photoshoots of his four-legged buddies, ranging from fast-paced action photographs to seasonal shots. And the youngsters who adore them in his most recent series, Little Kids and their Big Dogs.
The delightful series, set in the outdoors, is a study of true relationships between dogs and their small people. The little tots and their giant companions sit silently in other images, staring into the horizon or fondly looking at one other. In others, the happy couples can be seen jumping, skipping, and dancing across mounds of leaves and freshly fallen snow. In a couple especially heartwarming photos, the kids are seen snuggling up to their canine buddies. Whatever the relationship, the heartwarming scenes show the unshakable link and charming adoration shared between children and their protecting dogs.
Seliverstoff attempted to humanize and personify the gentle giants by emphasising their distinguishing characteristics when shooting them. “I usually spend a lot of time with the dog in front of my camera so I can get to know the personality of my canine model as well as I can,” Seliverstoff says on his website. “Every individual dog has an own personality and temperament. The human characteristics we frequently perceive in our dogs are, among other things, what makes us feel so connected to them. And it is this quality of my photography that I want to convey.”
Seliverstoff has turned his collection of adorable images into a book titled Little Kids and their Big Dogs. While the title will be published in 2017, you may sign up to receive updates on it here.
