A young admirer of David Attenborough has once again captured hearts online after creating a special animal illustration to celebrate the legendary naturalist’s 100th birthday.
Six-year-old Max Evans-Browning, described by his family as a devoted wildlife enthusiast, continued a tradition he began the previous year by drawing a 100th animal in honor of Attenborough’s global birthday celebrations on May 8, 2026.
This year’s tribute featured Platysaurus attenboroughi, a species of flat lizard named after Attenborough and found in parts of southern Africa.
In a handwritten note accompanying the artwork, Max reportedly explained that he wanted to choose an animal carrying Attenborough’s name and hoped the drawing would be “perfect” for the occasion.

The story quickly resonated online because of the child’s remarkable passion for wildlife and natural history at such a young age.
According to previous interviews shared by his mother, Max has been fascinated by animals since he first learned to speak, spending much of his time watching wildlife documentaries, reading about rare species and learning animal names many adults have never heard before.
Last year, Max gained widespread attention after completing drawings of 100 animals associated with Attenborough’s work in celebration of the broadcaster’s 99th birthday.

The ambitious project reportedly took only a few days to complete across multiple large sheets of paper before eventually reaching Attenborough himself.
The veteran broadcaster later responded with a handwritten thank-you note praising the young artist’s work — a gesture that deeply moved the family and encouraged Max to continue the tradition this year.
For many viewers, the story reflects the extraordinary influence Attenborough has had across generations.
Over decades of groundbreaking documentaries, Attenborough has inspired millions of people worldwide to develop a deeper appreciation for wildlife, conservation and the natural world.
The young fan’s tribute also highlights how environmental storytelling and wildlife education continue to shape children’s curiosity and creativity in the digital age.
As Attenborough enters his second century, stories like Max’s serve as a reminder that his work continues inspiring future generations of naturalists, artists and conservation advocates around the world.
