Stephen McKears, a retired electrician from Gloucestershire, England, was perplexed to see that the small metal things in his tool shed had been placed in an unusual but orderly manner, with no clues as to how they came to be that way. McKears and a neighbor decided to make a mess first and then install a security camera to get eyes inside overnight after a few weeks of this perplexing mystery. The camera depicted a hardworking mouse who felt compelled to clean up while remaining secure and comfortable.
Before further objects began to gather, the retired electrician saw plastic clips appearing in an old ice cream tub packed with peanuts that he saves to feed the birds. Stephen, unsure of his sanity, emptied the tub every night, scattering the nuts and bolts throughout his shed, only to wake up to find the mess had been cleaned up. The pair decided to set up a trail camera to reveal the mystery guest after weeks of finding huge screws, plastic leads, nuts, and bolts neatly filed away.
