A man went lost while hiking in the Alps near Gimmelwald, Switzerland, until a cat approached him and led him in the right direction.
“Gimmelwald is a little, tiny town with a really gorgeous setting. In fact, I became ‘lost’ in the nearby mountains. When I arrived in Lauterbrunnen, it was the end of the ski season, so the lifts were broken and some trails were closed,” stated reddit user sc4s2cg.
Before continuing to follow the ski lifts, he took a detour up the mountain. He reached the top and followed a railroad track into a “completely desolate village,” where he was alone.
“I was looking at my map to figure out how to get back to the hostel, and the only official way down was via a blocked trail.” That’s how I met that lovely feline.”
The kitten saw him when he stopped for food and to rest his sprained ankle on the way.
“As soon as I awoke, she began taking me along some route,” he explained. “Considering I was a complete stranger, she looked really nice; she must be used to the annual tourist influx in that region.”
“This was the only cat I came across… She wasn’t just exploring the mountains at random; I believe she resides in the town where I was (Gimmelwald).”
“She was strolling and kept glancing at me to see whether I wanted to follow her, and she directed me straight to the trail that would lead me back down to the valley.”
He decided to video the encounter for everyone to see, watch the full video below:
“Right towards the end of that video, we actually split up,” he explained. “I needed to go down, and she needed to guard her area!”
Other netizens identified the cat when the tale went viral on Reddit, with one user named starspace1 even saying:
“Three months earlier, the same cat went hiking with me and a friend!” People’s faces lighted up when they saw this gorgeous kitten walk ahead of them, pause, and then strike a hilarious pose.
According to reports, the savior kitty resides at a hostel in the village and is adored by visitors.
“I was basically calling her cute and asking hypothetical questions like, ‘Are you coming?’ and wondering where she was taking me.” It’s without a doubt one of my favorite memories from my trip!”
