Which image is Earth, and which is Mars? This might be a tricky question at first glance, but when you take a closer look, the answer becomes more apparent. The image on the left is the red planet Mars, while the image on the right is our own planet Earth.
These two images were taken by two very different photographers – one by a human, and the other by a robot. The image of Mars was taken by NASA’s Spirit rover while it was climbing Husband Hill, a peak in the Columbia Hills range of Gusev Crater. The photo shows a panoramic view of the Martian terrain, with rocks and boulders scattered across the dusty landscape.

On the other hand, the image of Earth was taken by photographer Miguel Claro across the desert south of Morocco. The photo captures the Milky Way galaxy and the zodiacal light, which appears as a faint glow on the right side of the image.
Despite the vast differences between the two planets, it’s interesting to note that both images share some similarities. Both photos showcase a desolate, rocky terrain, and both images also capture a sense of solitude and vastness.
While Earth and Mars may be vastly different, these images show that there is beauty to be found in both worlds. And as we continue to explore the cosmos, it’s exciting to think about what other wonders we might discover in the vast expanse of space.
