They were so small 🥺
The counseling staff at a high school in Northern California were going about their business one afternoon when they noticed weird sounds coming from the vents — which turned out to be small meows.
Everyone in the office sprung into action right away. They were able to find the kittens, but they were unable to reach them immediately.

“We heard sounds coming from the vents on a Tuesday, and we were able to spot several kittens on the roof by the air conditioning unit,” one of the school counselors, Jeremiah Jones, told me. “They set a trap to attempt to catch them, and they were able to catch the mom on Wednesday morning, but not the kittens, so they let the mom go so she could try to stay with them.”
A maintenance technician was able to save three kittens on Thursday, but the counseling staff continued to hear meows coming from the vents. The maintenance man climbed upon a desk, opened the ceiling, and began looking for answers.
He was able to rescue two little kittens from the ceiling, and thankfully, they were both well.
“Our amazing campus maintenance worker, Jake, was able to find them and cut them out of the ceiling, leaving the counseling team and a student office aide in shock,” Jones added. “As they were being rescued, the kittens appeared famished and were screaming out.”
After ensuring that all of the kittens were healthy, they were placed with local families. They’re safe and sound today, thanks to the counseling staff’s perseverance — and they’ll know what to do if they ever hear meows coming from the ceiling again.
