The Progression Over Oregon
Photographer Jasman Lion Mander captured a stunning composite photo showcasing the Great American Eclipse unfolding across the Oregon sky.
According to Mander, “The eclipse, witnessed from Oregon, drew millions to the path of totality, marking a monumental astronomical event of our time. As smoke from nearby wildfires filled the valley near Detroit Lake, Mount Jefferson loomed in the distance, momentarily obscured. However, during the eclipse’s totality, the air chilled and the smoke momentarily thinned, revealing the mountain for a fleeting two minutes.
The sky took on a twilight hue as the landscape darkened under the moon’s shadow, painting the scene with colors reminiscent of a striking sunset or sunrise. Amidst the daytime eclipse, planets and stars became visible, adding to the surreal spectacle.
Originally planning to observe from the coastal area, which was fogged in, we hastily relocated to our preferred spot, where we took a brief nap before the spectacle unfolded. This experience, shared with Darian Westbrook, was undoubtedly one of the most unforgettable moments of our lives. I am grateful to have witnessed it firsthand.”
Enjoy the captivating image! 🙂
