Sirga the Lionness was abandoned by her pride as an ill cub, but she was saved by Val Gruener, a young German man.

Sirga and Val went viral last year when a video of Sirga welcoming Val with a passionate hug was shared to YouTube.

Val and Sirga are now the heroes of a new documentary series that follows Val as he teaches Sirga how to hunt.

Val established the Modisa Wildlife Sanctuary, where he rehabilitated Sirga.

She is now more than 140 kg (308 lbs), yet the two are still inseparable.
