To save his dogs, an Australian man fought an enraged kangaroo for six minutes.

Cliff Des was at his home in New South Wales last week when “a six-foot buck roo in a bad mood” attempted to grab his dogs from the front yard.

He tried unsuccessfully to frighten the wild animal away, which resulted in a fight with the marsupial.

Des told Today on Tuesday, “It just put its claws up, stood on its back feet, and started chasing me.”

“I started running into my yard, and before I knew it, I’d slipped and it’d jumped on my back.”

Des tries to defend himself with a stick before tackling the animal to the ground, according to CCTV footage from the incident.

He received a few cuts and bites as a result of the fight.

Despite his terrifying experience, Des has a soft spot for kangaroos.

“They’re a stunning creature and an Australian icon… “All I can conclude from the situation is that you should avoid them,” he said.
