This little Tufted Coquette was so exhausted it had to be revived at Asa Wright Nature Preserve, Trinidad, before flying off replenished. Photo and caption by Linda Mason Perlin.
The Asa Wright Nature Preserve is a haven for wildlife, and it seems this tiny Tufted Coquette needed a little help recently. Thankfully, the staff at the preserve were able to revive the exhausted hummingbird and get it back on its feet (or rather, wings!).
Linda Mason Perlin captured this adorable photo of the Tufted Coquette perched on a finger, likely being offered some sugar water to help it regain its strength. The hummingbird’s iridescent feathers are stunning, even in this close-up view.
This is a heartwarming reminder of the important work that nature preserves do to care for wildlife in need. Thanks to the staff at Asa Wright Nature Preserve, this little Tufted Coquette will be able to continue on its journey.
