As a parent, you’ll need a lot of patience with your children because all they want to do is have fun. But, as it turns out, when you’re a sleeping lion, peace isn’t on the menu!
In a series of amusing images, a wildlife photographer captured a group of mischievous lion cubs that were interested about their father’s tolerance. While the dignified male was napping, his little pups decided that playing with his tail would be the best way to pass the time.
Ingo Gerlach, a German photographer, was in the right location at the right time to capture the scene on camera in Kenya’s Masai Mara Reserve. “There were about eight children[cubs]…they were like six weeks old,” the 66-year-old photographer told MailOnline. [The male] was dozing at the edge of a thicket, with no desire to look after the family.”
The king’s patience was swiftly stretched, and he let his cubs know that he wasn’t having it. His shout, he reasoned, would be enough to keep them at bay. “Like father, like son,” as the adage goes, and the brave cubs continued to annoy their father until he opted to sleep somewhere else.
The lion father became enraged, but even his terrifying roar couldn’t keep the cubs at bay!
“The cheeky cubs discovered their father’s bushy tail,” Gerlach stated.
“They played with it for a short time until their father threatened them with licked teeth, but this only worked for a few seconds because the kids were obstinate and continued to irritate their father.” Before retreating to a nearby bush, the lion fought for half an hour.”
