The Stunning Beauty of the Fantasy-Like Faroe Islands is Captured by a Photographer

There are parts of our globe that resemble fantastic fairytales come to reality, with fairies, Bilbo Baggins the hobbit, and wood nymphs lurking around every corner. The Faroe Islands are one example of this. Any traveler would be enchanted by rolling green meadows, stunning slopes, and plummeting cliffs. Fine art landscape photographer Lazar Gintchin was fascinated by the natural splendor of this distant archipelago in the North Atlantic, and his photos of the islands give a glimpse into a rich, gem-toned world.

The Faroe Islands are around 540 square miles in size and have a population of slightly over 53,000 people. They are located 200 miles northwest of Scotland. They are a Danish autonomous area with a historical Norse colonization history. The gulf stream keeps severe temperatures at bay, making the islands relatively moderate. They feature a diversified tundra-like ecology with a lot of plants, few trees, and a lot of different marine birds. Gintchin ventured into this terrain in quest of “living art,” as he describes it.

Gintchin hunts for breathtaking views—or “living art”—to capture with his camera as a fine-art photographer. These photographs, which have been transformed into high-quality fine art prints, serve as windows to the globe. Gintchin, who began photographing landscapes as a child in Bulgaria, strives for depth and detail. Gintchin has photographed aspen woods, desert canyons, and sunsets all over the world, from his early film experiences in the Pirin highlands to his digital travels throughout the world. He and his family presently reside in Colorado. On Instagram and his website, where prints are also available, you can follow his work and trips.

On a recent journey to the archipelago, photographer Lazar Gintchin caught the breathtaking vistas of the Faroe Islands.

The islands have a wonderful environment of lush greenery that resembles a magical kingdom.

Gintchin sees his work as capturing “living art” in order to give high-quality fine art prints as windows to the world.
