“I inquired whether she was troubling him, and he said, ‘No, no; I lost my dog last night,’ with a solemn expression and wet eyes.”
Cora was rescued from her former family a few months before her eighth birthday some years ago. Throughout her life, she had given birth to innumerable litters, but her final litter only produced one healthy puppy. She had so many health concerns and had never fully felt what it was like to be loved — but no one would ever know it with all the love she had to give.
Madison Palm had intended to merely foster Cora, but after realizing that she would never be able to let the adorable little puppy go, she decided to adopt her. Despite all that has happened to her, Cora is so eager to meet everyone she meets and has such a wonderful temperament that her mother chose to have her trained as a therapy dog.
Palm told The Dodo, “Cora’s personality is so great; she is a lover.” “She is always right next to me, and if she isn’t, she keeps a tight check on me.” If I’m not accessible, she’ll sit on the next nearest lap and poke your hand unless you’re constantly patting her. She is quite nice, and this is often the first thing people notice about her. Her sweet and caring demeanor is noted by many.”
When she’s out and about, the lovely corgi enjoys approaching others to say hello. So when she and her mother were traveling lately and were stranded in an airport, she believed Cora wouldn’t mind as long as there were plenty of new people to meet — and as it turned out, there was one person who needed Cora’s affection more than anything else that day.
“Cora simply strolled about in our tiny seating area, saying hello to everyone that was going by and sitting near us,” Palm explained. “She was sleeping, so I let go of her leash for a few moments as I rested and ate a snack; that’s when she awoke and crept over to him.” She was already at his feet being loved on before I could even summon her.”
Palm stood back, afraid that Cora was disturbing the tired traveler — but when she questioned about it, he made it obvious that Cora was not bothering him at all.
“I inquired whether she was upsetting him, and he said, ‘No, no; I lost my dog last night,’ with a solemn expression and wet eyes. He rubbed behind her ears, caressed her on the back, and said something about how adorable she was. He took out his phone to take a picture, and she sat in front of him, face to face, and totally motionless.”
Cora seemed to understand that the man in the airport that day most needed her affection. Despite having been mistreated for most of her existence, Cora has a gift for love and compassion, and she was able to soothe the guy when he lost his own furry buddy.
“She recognizes who is in need and who is grieving.” “I’ve never doubted it,” Palm stated. “She continues to amaze me on a regular basis. That thought a dog who had gone seven and a half years without being loved could have so much love to give?”
