Giant 30-Foot Wild Snakes Die While Attempting to Flee Indonesian Forest Fires

While battling blazing forest fires in Indonesia, locals have found the carcasses of enormous snakes. According to The Washington Post, forest fires have been destroying certain parts of Indonesia since July.

The fire’s dense smoky atmosphere caused widespread suffering, but animals in the forest suffered significantly as well.

According to Mothership, those battling the wildfire were horrified to see the bodies of creatures unable to flee the flames, including big snakes that were reportedly roasted alive.

The snakes, which many mistakenly believed to be anacondas but were actually members of the python family, were completely burned. Some appeared to have died horribly because their mouths were open.

Some of these uncommon snakes were greater in size and were said to be capable of consuming whole goats and animals. They had a 20 centimeter (7.8 inch) diameter and a maximum length of 10 meters (32 feet).

On September 13, a conservation organization called CAN Borneo allegedly shared a video showing villagers removing dead snakes from the burned forest near Baamang Tengah in Central Kalimantan, Indonesia.

Deforestation led to the enormous fire, which has burned over 800,000 acres of land. According to reports, farmers destroyed fields to create place for fresh crops. The unusually hot and dry summer of this year, however, made the fires more deadly.
