The video shows her preparing the six foot long shark in two ways: griller over an open fire and sautéed in a wok.
A Chinese food blogger who posted a video last year showing her buying, preparing and eating a great white shark was fined about $18,500.
The blogger, who goes by Tizi, posted the video on a Chinese social media platform showing her buy the shark, which is a protect animal in China, according to CBS News.
The video shows her preparing the six foot long shark in two ways: griller over an open fire and sautéed in a wok. She picks up part of the shark that was grilled and tears strips off with her teeth.
“Don’t be fooled by its scary appearance, its meat is very tender,” Tizi says in the video.
After the shark was confirmed as a great white through tissue samples, the blogger was found to have violated China’s Wild Animal Protection Law, according to a statement.
The blogger, who officials only identified by the name Jin, was fined 125,000 yuan, or about $18,500, a statement said.
The fisherman and the merchant who sold her the shark have been arrested, according to the statement.
The video, which went viral in 2022, upset many Chinese viewers, with one replying on the social media site, “Truly horrific to the extreme.” Others commented about the possibility of legal punishment, with one commenter writing, “Now she’s done it, the next five years she won’t have to cook anymore.”

If it was a known and published law, irrespective of its “correctness,” and she had clear access to its language, then she has no solid defense.
Personally, I think the restrictions as to the kinds of sea creatures taken—killed—and the methods used need to be tightened much stronger! And applied strictly and fairly!

Absolutely horrendous type of behaviour, and what for to add to her social media account. She needs to pay the fine and go to jail (I’m Tizi might gain more followers by doing that though). No conscience or thought for the shark, absolutely disgusting and heartless.
Ruth Grindeland says
This is horrible. Given the number of sharks killed for shark fin soup, I thought it was acceptable in China to kill and eat sharks. Hopefully, the world really is changing.
