A Japanese man spent over 2 million yen ($15,791) creating a realistic border collie costume to appear like his favorite breed of dog.
The man, named only as Toko, commissioned the costume from Zeppet, a Japanese business known for making sculptures and models for movies and commercials.
Toko went through numerous rounds of experiments and adjustments to get the costume just perfect, according to Zeppet.
Toko stated in an interview with the Japanese publication Mynavi:
When I put it on, it looks just like a collie. Quadrupedal animals, especially cute ones, are my favorite. Among them, I concluded that a large animal close to me would be excellent because it would be a realistic model, therefore I made it a dog.
I encountered such a situation and chose collie as my favorite breed of dog.
A Zeppet employee also discussed how his team was able to figure out ways for a dog’s figure to connect with that of a human.
The notion is that a dog’s skeleton can be replicated on a human skeleton. We spent a lot of time figuring out how to make the skeleton look like a dog because the structure is so unusual.
“In addition, we collect images taken from various angles so that the collie’s gorgeous coat can be recreated and designed so that it flows naturally.”
