In New Zealand, a seal broke into a house and sat on the couch to make himself at home. When they discovered the seal inside on Sunday, the Ross family was taken aback. They think the seal probably entered their home through the cat flap after their cat.
“Oh, that would be a seal, I think as I hear this flippity-flop along the corridor. Homeowner Jenn Ross told Reuters, “I cannot believe something would have come in through there.
She invited her children to come see the strange house guest they had given the name “Oscar.” The seal’s manners were praised by her marine researcher husband, Phil, who noted that the animal “was a really excellent house guest” because it didn’t poop inside the residence.
A conservation ranger subsequently arrived to pick up Oscar after Jenn managed to get the seal outside. The family was informed by the wildlife officer that he had a busy day capturing seals and that the recent harsh weather was likely to blame for the large influx of seals into the interior. However, Oscar was the only one who had made the choice to visit a house.
The seal has since been returned to the ocean.
