Bianca, a resident of Queensland, Australia, has found an unexpected roommate in her backyard shed – a giant Huntsman spider. Despite the spider’s imposing size and reputation for speed, Bianca welcomed her new companion, whom she affectionately named Charlotte.
Huntsman spiders are commonly found in homes throughout Australia and are known for their large size, but they are generally harmless to humans and help control insect populations.
Bianca first encountered Charlotte while working in her backyard shed. Although she was initially startled by the spider’s size, she soon realized that Charlotte was not aggressive and was simply looking for a safe place to rest. After getting to know the spider and observing her behavior, Bianca decided to let Charlotte stay in the shed.
Over time, Bianca and Charlotte developed a unique bond. Bianca would often talk to Charlotte while working in the shed, and Charlotte would respond with clicks and vibrations. Bianca even began leaving food out for Charlotte, including cockroaches and other insects.
Despite some people’s fear of spiders, Bianca says that Charlotte has brought her a great deal of joy. She describes Charlotte as a “gentle giant” and says that having her around has been a positive experience.
Bianca has become somewhat of an advocate for spiders and hopes to encourage others to view them in a more positive light. She even created a Facebook page called “Charlotte the Spider” to share her experiences and educate others about the importance of spiders in the ecosystem.
Bianca’s story serves as a reminder that all creatures, no matter how big or small, have a place in our world. While not everyone may be comfortable sharing their home with a giant spider, Bianca’s experience shows that it’s possible to coexist with these fascinating and important creatures.
