It's possible that there was never a renowned non-human example of early-onset arthritis. It has long been believed that Dolly the sheep, the first animal to be cloned from an adult cell, was born with osteoarthritis. This has been used as proof of the risks associated with cloning. This assertion has been called into doubt after a second look at her skeleton. One of the … [Read more...] about Dolly It Turns Out That The Sheep Had No Arthritis
Scientists Make Mouse Clones From Freeze-Dried Cells in a Cloning Breakthrough
It is a much safer and more cost-effective method. Animal extinction is occurring at an alarming rate as a result of human activities, including direct killing and habitat damage. Cloning is one of the activities at the forefront of this since many have reached a stage where conservation and breeding efforts are the only way to preserve the species alive. But doing so is … [Read more...] about Scientists Make Mouse Clones From Freeze-Dried Cells in a Cloning Breakthrough
One of The World’s Oldest Snow Monitors Has Just Set a Terrible Record
Even while snowpacks are often melting sooner across the world, the recent record established at Mount Sonnblick is startling. The Austrian Alps are home to the 3,106-meter-tall (10,190-foot) Mount Sonnblick. Over 20 meters (66 feet) of snow fall on average each year. It takes the majority of the summer for it to melt close to the top. A record unlike any other is being … [Read more...] about One of The World’s Oldest Snow Monitors Has Just Set a Terrible Record
Over The Tropics, A Brand-New Ozone Hole Has Been Found, and it’s Enormous
It's thought to have been around since the 1980s. A brand-new year-round ozone hole has been found over the tropics of the Earth, which, according to the study's authors, is "of significant worldwide concern." The hole is believed to have existed since the 1980s and eluded climate scientists' models, which are often able to foresee such events. By combining observational … [Read more...] about Over The Tropics, A Brand-New Ozone Hole Has Been Found, and it’s Enormous
Previously Unseen Crystals Discovered in Chelyabinsk Meteorite Dust
Carbon crystals with exotic structures that had never been seen before were found in the dust left behind by the Chelyabinsk meteor. Carbon microcrystals with "unusual morphological features" have been discovered in the debris of a meteorite that erupted over southern Russia in February 2013. The Chelyabinsk meteor, which measured 18 meters (59 feet) broad, burst apart high … [Read more...] about Previously Unseen Crystals Discovered in Chelyabinsk Meteorite Dust
