Drone footage of Cannock Chase Forest appears to depict the phantom “black eyed girl” who is said to haunt the area.
When ghost hunting, the best you’re likely to see is a fleeting glimpse or blurry image of a strange figure that might be a spectral spirit or simply someone out for a stroll.
With a number of eerie sightings reported over the years, Cannock Chase is regarded as one of the UK’s most haunted locations. One spectral sighting that keeps resurfacing is the ghost of a “black eyed girl.”
Many people have reported seeing ghostly children with sunken black eye sockets hiding in the trees over the years.
Whether these are supposed to be the ghosts of people who perished in the 1960s or were slain by a monstrous killer centuries ago is unclear to the public.
According to one theory, the ghosts of the black-eyed children are the remains of people who perished during the 1800s diphtheria epidemic. The disease caused their eyes to become sunken and dark.
Another claims that they are the ghosts of Raymond Morris’ victims, who were murdered between 1965 and 1967. Raymond Morris killed three children.
Of course, there is also the assertion that the whole thing is fiction made by those who reject the existence of ghosts.
A true believer’s drone captured something on the edge of the treeline, swooped down for a closer look, and captured a shadowy figure lurking nearby.
People who witnessed it thought it might be a ghost, commenting that “Cannock Chase is well known for things like this” and that the video was “seriously creepy.”
Another person expressed skepticism, asking if they “drove the drone closer to the girl for a better look,” and a third person contended that it was “fake.”
Someone else asserted that it was clear the spectral spirit was a “person dressed up.”
Other alleged encounters with the eerie child’s spirit have occurred, including one where fear-seeker Tom Buckmaster spent the night in the woods and experienced strange noises.
Another skeptic asserts that they have encountered “black eyed children” at Cannock Chase, which is also allegedly the home of “werewolves, a pigman, and allegedly even Bigfoot,” though Bigfoot is of course a British adaptation of the American legend.
There are quite a few ghost walks you can go on if you’re determined to go out and look for the “black eyed girl” for yourself.
