You might or might not be familiar with Azuki, the Instagram-famous Japanese pygmy hedgehog. Allow us to introduce you if you don’t know who we are. Azuki is a down-to-earth character. He enjoys apples, massages, and hot baths, and lived with his human indoors until recently. All of his comfortable blanket naps, daily photoshoots, and time spent with his sister Uni (@uni desu) were no longer the same. Even his small hat collection and custom-built hedgehog nest-house couldn’t satisfy him. He felt something was lacking, and he yearned for more. So he packed his little bags and went camping, figuring it was time for an adventure, and he’s never been happier.
Azuki had everything he needed to confront the big outdoors, including his own miniature tent, table and chair set, BBQ, and even a kayak. Fortunately for us, his human packed a camera and documented his exploits on Instagram. “Lunch in nature seems better than normal,” Azuki says in one photo showcasing a lovely forest meal. In another, he states that while relaxing in his camp chair and admiring the sky, “the stars [were] quite lovely [at] night.”
After satisfying his wanderlust, Azuki has returned home in time for Halloween, where he has been busy planning the celebrations. On Instagram, you can follow up with Azuki’s charming exploits.
