To defend his pets, a Florida guy goes head to head with a black bear!
This is the horrifying moment a man on his veranda in Daytona Beach, Florida came face to face with a black bear. The big beast barged in and attempted to attack one of the dogs, but the courageous owner beat the bear off without hesitation. He miraculously escaped with only a few scratches, but his dogs and the bear were both unharmed. A Ring camera captured this remarkable event!
Walter Hickox, who was on his porch with his dogs, was having a pleasant evening. A black bear, meanwhile, had just climbed over the terrace’s modest wooden fence and was on the verge of capturing the man’s 12-year-old dachshund, Pepper. The man standing near the surveillance camera reacts in an amazing way. He stepped in and fought the savage beast with his bare fists without hesitation.
Walter managed to force the black bear outdoors after the goosebump encounter lasted only a few seconds. He then took a wooden seat and placed it in front of the front door. The guy suffered just minor injuries as a result of the spectacular encounter, but happily none of his dogs were injured.
“Not a lot went through my thoughts at the moment,” Walter told WFTV, “other than what would happen if he got past me and into the home where the rest of my dogs and my wife were.”

To avoid future incidents like these, the guy is considering installing a solid door instead of the wooden gate.
