“I called his name and he went absolutely ballistic!”
Peanut was a puppy eight years ago when his human sister, Malaika Jaovisidha, left for college. He didn’t sure when he’d see her again, and each day seemed to drag on forever.
Peanut couldn’t stop loving Jaovisidha when she returned home from college a few months later on break.
While she was at school, Jaovisidha visited her family’s home in Thailand on a regular basis. Peanut would go into a face-licking frenzy as soon as he saw her.
“Whether I’ve been away for a week or months, each reunion is as as exhilarating as the previous,” Jaovisidha told The Dodo. “However, I never [left] for more than 4-6 months at a time.”
Until 2020, when harsh travel restrictions were implemented across the world. Jaovisidha had been in Australia for about two years before being able to travel back home.
“I honestly thought [Peanut] had forgotten about me,” Jaovisidha said. “I’d never been away for so long before, so I wasn’t sure what to anticipate.”
When the big day arrived, Jaovisidha quickly recognized Peanut and her family at the arrivals gate. The senior Chihuahua spotted her as well, but she could tell by his expression that he didn’t know her.
“All he did was wag his tail and gaze at me,” Jaovisidha explained. “He routinely greets people who come by to pat him in this manner.”
Peanut’s reunion with Jaovisidha may be seen here:
Peanut recognized Jaovisidha’s voice immediately when she talked.
“I yelled his name, and he went totally crazy,” Jaovisidha said. “He began weeping and couldn’t stop crawling all over me to kiss me!”
Peanut was happy to see one of his favorite humans, just like he was every time she came home from school. Peanut and Jaovisidha are now making up for missed time by enjoying all of their favorite activities together, including as walking and snuggling.
“I missed snuggling with him,” stated Jaovisidha. “It’s the most delightful thing.”
