Inside a tank at the COEX Aquarium, it took the 8-year-old female 21 hours to eat the 5-year-old male. According to the video, the female shark began with the male’s head and gradually consumed the rest of his body.
This shark cannibalism was most likely caused by the sharks colliding with one another. “Sharks have their own territories,” a Reuters source said. “Occasionally, when they collide, they bite out of surprise.”
Despite her best efforts to consume the male shark, the female shark is expected to regurgitate the remains of her former roommate at some point.
