Not For the Faint of Heart: a Reversal of a Zoo in Which People are Caged and Animals are Free

Many of us have fond recollections of going to the zoo as children, and the Hasan Jasim team is no exception. Beautiful birds, lovely herbivores, and dangerous predators that we’d only seen on television might now be seen in person. Some visitors, though, desire more than just observing animals from a safe distance.

The first zoo of its sort in Latin America is located in Rancagua, Chile. It’s named Safari Lion Zoo, and the tourists, not the animals, are kept in cages. The goal behind such an unusual zoo is to provide visitors the opportunity to witness animals in their natural habitat.

All guests may keep a safe distance from the lions by riding a bus within a sturdy metal cage around the area. This cage is the only thing standing between the animals and the curious onlookers.

Visitors are welcome to bring fresh meat to draw the attention of the wild cats. When they smell it, they don’t hesitate to get on the buses, wander around on them, and stare at the occupants.

Visitors are not permitted to feed the animals through the cage, but they are permitted to photograph and even touch them. However, only the most daring guests will be able to do so because the animals at Safari Lion Zoo are entirely free and their behavior is utterly unpredictable. That is something you should keep in mind at all times.

Would you like to take such a safari? Or would you be scared?
