Outside Their Window, a Couple Stands in Awe as a Squirrel Starts a Family

An unexpected visitor stood outside the window of Alex and his girlfriend’s upper-story apartment in France around three months ago. It was a squirrel with a stick in her mouth.

The squirrel rushed away after placing the stick on the window sill. Returning with another a few moments later.

“Our first thought was, ‘What is going on right now?'” The Dodo was informed by Alex. “What is the purpose of a squirrel throwing sticks at our window?”

However, the answer became apparent very quickly.

The squirrel, it turned out, was in the middle of a cute construction job. She was constructing a nest, and Alex’s window sill appeared to be the ideal location.

The squirrel settled in once she finished. Alex, his girlfriend, and their cat got an up-close glimpse at the squirrel’s daily existence in the weeks that followed.

“We felt so fortunate to be able to see her every day,” Alex added. “We noticed her asleep in the sun. When she awoke, we observed her smelling the air and doing everything she did. And we had the opportunity to observe it up close.”

Alex and his partner filmed the squirrel’s actions over the months and uploaded the footage to TikTok.

But, as adorable as she was, she wouldn’t be alone for long.

Alex just uploaded a video of the squirrel at their window over the months, as well as the time they met her new family:

Alex stated, “It was incredibly touching and provided us so much joy.”

Alex and his girlfriend were ecstatic to see the mother squirrel and her young, but they knew it wouldn’t last forever.

The babies soon became old enough to venture out into the world on their own, and the entire family moved away from the window.

They did, however, leave plenty of lovely memories in their wake.

Alex says he and his partner will be on the lookout for the squirrel who built her nest outside their window and the offspring they got to watch grow up when they’re out and about in town, having gained a new perspective on their cute existence.

“We definitely developed feelings for them,” Alex explained.
