Police in London have launched an urgent investigation after two kittens were found dead following what authorities described as an extremely distressing act of animal cruelty. Investigators are appealing to the public for information after releasing CCTV images of two teenagers they wish to identify in connection with the incident.

The incident took place on May 3 along Ickenham Road in Ruislip, northwest London. According to investigators, the kittens were allegedly brought to the location inside a black duffel bag carried by a teenage boy. Police believe the animals were then subjected to a brutal attack that left the local community shocked.

The kittens are thought to have been brought to the scene in a black duffel bag, carried by a young boy

Security camera footage released by the Metropolitan Police shows a teenage boy walking along the residential street carrying a black duffel bag while accompanied by a red-haired teenage girl. Later in the footage, both teenagers are seen running away from the area, with the boy repeatedly looking back over his shoulder as they fled.

In CCTV released by the Met Police he can be seen swinging the bag at his side as he walks along the suburban road with a red-haired girl by his side

The investigation began after a member of the public reported witnessing the incident and alerted authorities. Detectives are now working to establish exactly what happened and identify those involved.

They can later be seen sprinting away along the middle of the road, with the teenage boy looking back over his shoulder as he runs

Police have described the boy as approximately 5 feet 6 inches (1.68 meters) tall, with short dark hair. At the time of the incident, he was reportedly wearing a dark long-sleeved jacket and blue jeans while carrying the black duffel bag believed to have contained the kittens.

The tiny cats are said to have been dismembered in the gruesome act, which took place on Ickenham Road in Ruislip, north west London on Saturday May 3

The girl accompanying him is also described as being about 5 feet 6 inches tall with long red hair. She was reportedly wearing a white top and black shorts while carrying a purple jumper, which she later put on.

Police Sergeant Babs Rock described the case as deeply upsetting, saying the incident had caused understandable concern throughout the local community. Officers are urging anyone who recognizes the two teenagers or has information that could assist the investigation to contact police as soon as possible.

Animal welfare organizations continue to warn that acts of cruelty toward animals should always be reported immediately, noting that investigations into serious abuse play an important role in protecting both animals and communities.
