Selfie from top of Mount Everest destroys Flat Earth theory once and for all

Despite Mount Everest’s commanding view, some cling to the flat Earth belief.

If you’re among those still convinced that the Earth is flat, allow me to present a compelling counterargument – a selfie taken from the peak of Mount Everest.

Mount Everest, towering above all other peaks, offers a vantage point like no other accessible to those on foot. On a clear day, the view from its summit is unparalleled, providing an excellent opportunity not only for breathtaking photos but also for a profound lesson in Earth’s shape.

For those unable to scale Everest themselves, fear not; an existing selfie serves as irrefutable evidence.

This remarkable image was captured by a climber standing atop the world’s highest mountain, towering more than 8,848 meters above sea level. With a high-angled camera, the climber snapped a selfie revealing a striking curvature of the Earth in the background.

This perspective directly contradicts the beliefs of some conspiracy theorists who adhere to the flat Earth theory. The selfie, later shared on Reddit with the caption “Checkmate Flat Earth Society,” sparked a wave of humorous retorts aimed at proponents of the disproven theory.

Among the reactions, one Reddit user quipped, “I maintain that only like six people believe in a flat Earth. Everyone else is just trolling each other.” Another concurred, saying, “I’m all for a good conspiracy theory, but there are some, including the flat earth, that are just too much.”

While the Earth’s spherical shape garnered much attention, observers couldn’t overlook the unsettling sight of Mount Everest’s summit. “Why does the top of Everest look like a garbage dump?” one commenter pondered.

Indeed, the photo reveals a disheartening scene – the summit strewn with colorful debris and litter left behind by previous climbers. National Geographic has aptly dubbed Everest the “world’s highest garbage dump” due to the accumulation of waste at its peak.

Unfortunately, given the mountain’s remote location and the influx of climbers, with up to 500 ascending daily during peak seasons, cleaning up Everest’s summit presents a formidable challenge.

In conclusion, this selfie offers valuable lessons beyond the shape of our planet. It serves as a poignant reminder of our collective responsibility to preserve and protect our environment. As stewards of this unquestionably round Earth, we must strive to leave no trace, ensuring that even the most majestic summits remain unspoiled for generations to come.
