It’s a love story for the ages.
This wild rabbit has had an unusual glimpse into the world of domestic bunnies, and he likes what he sees.
One warm spring day, YouTuber bill16504 decided to open his sliding door, leaving his rabbit, Pep, in her favorite spot in front of the screen. A curious wild rabbit soon arrived as an unexpected visitor.
Pep appears to be quite taken with the wild rabbit.
And after a brief standoff he decides to approach.
Pep seems equally taken with him, nuzzling him through the screen.
The wild bun wants in, but he’s a bit confused by the whole screen door thing …
…which stands firm even as he tries to climb through it.
The video description mentions that the wild rabbits were in the midst of mating season, so it’s possible that this wild visitor had some amorous thoughts (though domestic rabbits cannot successfully reproduce with wild rabbits in the United States due to genetic differences). It’s also possible that his natural caution was overcome by his curiosity.
In any case, the wild rabbit was much braver than the house bunny, who quickly retreats to her cardboard box when the attention is drawn to her.
But her suitor isn’t giving up.
Unfortunately (but probably wisely) for these lovebirds, the owner chose not to open the screen. It’s a tragic love story for the ages, though hopefully the wild rabbit found a better mate.
