The Power and Beauty of Raptor Birds in Flight are Captured in Stunning Portraits

by Stephen King

Mark Harvey is well known for his equestrian photography, but his spectacular avian images are progressively transforming his reputation. His series of birds in flight began as a result of his need to shoot wildlife close to home during the epidemic and has continued to grow. Raptors in Flight is the follow-up to his critically acclaimed Birds in Flight series. These new graphics feature owls, eagles, and other birds of prey as the main characters.

“Raptors are masters of observation,” Harvey tells My Modern Met, “with razor-sharp sight, hearing, and amazing intelligence.” “It’s a potent mix that produces some of the most awe-inspiring bird species.” The owls also convey a strong feeling of wisdom and introspection.”

Indeed, Harvey’s painting of a magnificent grey owl catches the majestic animal’s thoughtful expression, as if carefully posing for the camera. Other shots emphasize the raptors’ majesty, especially as they open their wings. These birds, as Harvey points out, spend more time sitting, waiting, and resting than lesser birds, but when they do take flight, it’s a sight to behold.

“Of all the predatory creatures shown in the world, large cats have gotten a lot of attention,” says the photographer. “These birds are the great cats of the skies for me, and I hope the new painting reflects their elegant physique and grandeur,” says the artist.

These raptors, frozen in time, are real pieces of art that demand our admiration. Harvey, for one, has made his raptor photographs available as limited-edition prints, which may be purchased through his website.
