Skippy, the “Oldest Dog in Ireland,” is a 26-year-old Border Collie

Pet lovers hope that their cherished pets could live indefinitely, but they understand that all good boys and girls must ultimately pass the rainbow bridge. Patrick Geraghty, on the other hand, has managed to keep his dog Skippy from succumbing to this dismal reality so far. The Border Collie, at 26 years old, is considered to be the oldest dog in Ireland (where the two live) and one of the world’s oldest canines. Skippy is the equivalent age of 130 to 145 in human years!

Since the summer of 1995, Geraghty and Skippy have been inseparable. After purchasing the puppy from a breeder, the guy began parenting him when he was just a few weeks old. Skippy was a farm dog for the past few years, which is great for a Border Collie because they are a “working and herding” breed.

Skippy’s mobility has deteriorated as he has grown older. Now he needs Geraghty’s assistance to get up. Skippy is deafeningly deafeningly deafeningly dea However, this hasn’t shattered the pair’s connection. “We’re great pals,” his human adds. “You know, it’s my turn now to care after him.” He’s always been nice to me when he was well, but now he’s sick and I have to give him water four times a day and feed him three times a day—which I don’t mind.”

Despite the fact that no official documents exist to determine Skippy’s precise age, family members recall Skippy as a puppy on the farm in the 1990s. When Geraghty and his family moved into the area approximately 20 years ago, a neighbor recalls the dog pursuing their automobile. Skippy and Geraghty will remain together as long as they can, regardless of their actual age.

Skippy the Border Collie, who is 26 years old, is Ireland’s oldest dog. In human years, he’s between 130 and 145 years old!

Closest I can verify is a neighbour who remembers Skippy chasing his car when he moved into the area some 20 years ago. Skippy was a chaser . That picture is from September 2021. This was him this morning pic.twitter.com/Jms0GDB8UL
