Mitchell Miner, a 15-year-old boy, and his adorable cow Audri recently competed in the Iowa State Fair dairy cattle exhibition. Despite their efforts, they came in fifth place out of seven teams. When the boy’s father stepped in and got a sweet photo of the boy and adorable dairy cow snuggling side by side, the duo fell asleep.
“Our son Mitchell and his heifer after displaying yesterday,” the photo reads. It went viral very instantly, with over 15,000 likes the next day.
The boy’s mother, Laura Miner, told the Des Moines Register, “I believe it’s just when you spend that much time with farm animals, they get incredibly comfortable.” She and her husband both grew up on a farm, but now that they have moved away, they want their children to have a connection to their roots. As a result, the family borrows animals for the summer to give her children a taste of farm life and human-animal relationships.
Mitchell’s father, Jeremy Miner, remarked, “We learned a lot from the farm.” “Those values have been instilled in us, and we are doing everything we can to protect them.”
Audri the napping cow, on the other hand, will be returning to the dairy farm once the shows are over in September.
