The Cuddliest Little Cows on the Planet Are Adorable Highland Cattle Calves

Although you wouldn’t think of a cow as warm and fuzzy, there is one breed that defies stereotypes thanks to its long, textured hair. Highland cattle are cuddly-looking animals with the longest wild coifs of any breed, which cover their hooves and faces in fluffy fluff like a dog.

Highland cattle are native to Scotland’s Highlands and Western Isles. They are well suited to areas with strong winds, rainfall, and generally cooler weather due to their fur. Their coats have two layers of fur: an oily layer on the outside that allows rain to slide off, and a downy undercoat on the inside that covers the body. This, combined with their horns, allows them to forage for food even when the ground is covered in snow. The horns act as a shovel, assisting them in digging for buried plants.

A Highland cattle calf is no exception to the rule that many species of animals are cuter as babies. It’s impossible not to smile when you see their adorable antics, with their small snouts, tongues, and stature. Below, you can see them in all their adorable glory.

Highland cattle are no longer just in Scotland, though. These fuzzy cows can be found as far afield as Australia and in the Andes.
