In “Revenge,” Monkeys Massacre “200 Puppies” After Dogs Allegedly Kill An Infant Monkey

Over 200 puppies were allegedly slaughtered in the Indian town of Lavool in “revenge” killings after the dogs allegedly killed an infant monkey. Two simians were discovered in the village grabbing the puppies and transporting them to high spots where they would starve or fall to their deaths. According to India’s ANI news, the offenders have subsequently been apprehended and relocated.

While media sites reported that the monkeys were killing in vengeance for the death of a newborn, residents have stated that no such tragedy has occurred in the recent few months, according to News18. The number of puppies slain has also been disputed, with one local claiming up to 200, while another claims only three to four babies were killed. Regardless, the monkeys were acting out of character, with humans being hurt while fleeing them. Among those injured was an 8-year-old schoolchild.

“In general, monkeys do not assault humans, but people are terrified.” Some people have been hurt in recent days while fleeing these monkeys. However, no monkey bite incidents have been registered in this village,” Range Forest Officer Amol Munde told national news source PTI.

Stealing puppies is not an uncommon occurrence for these monkeys; in the area, monkeys have been known to kidnap pups and transport them to high places where they dwell to “take care of them.” Unfortunately for the dogs, monkeys are awful owners who do not comprehend their new pets’ food and drink requirements, causing them to starve or fall to the ground.

“Such instances had occurred in the previous three months.” These two monkeys have visited our village. “They take puppies with them to the roofs of buildings or any other high area,” claimed Radhakishan Sonawane, a local.

“At such a height, these puppies receive no food or water.” As a result, they died naturally numerous times. However, they occasionally died after falling from great heights. More than 200 puppies had died in our village,”

Images and videos of the heinous incidents, in which the monkeys snatched little canines and whisked them away up high, have now surfaced. According to locals, the primate cleansing has already killed nearly every dog in the hamlet, leaving owners devastated.

Stephanie Poindexter, Assistant Professor of Anthropology at SUNY Buffalo, told Gizmodo last year that primates are capable of executing vengeance and are more inclined to pursue animals who resemble the picture of their assailant.

“Obviously, we can’t know their intent because we can’t ask them what they intended to do or why they did it.” “However, in studies of cage primates and social groups in zoos, we’ve found that when a person is attacked in some way, the risk of them attacking someone connected to their aggressor increases,” Poindexter said.
