A Wild Parrot Falls Madly in Love With a Woman Who Was Kind to Her

“I felt like I was chosen” ❤️

An unexpected guest recently flew into Carolina Medeiros’ doorstep in Brazil.

It was a wild parrot, and she’d soon find her way into Medeiros’ heart as well.

The golden-capped parakeet, a sort of parrot endemic to the area, seems to have landed on Medeiros’ doorstep only to rest her wings. She then made her presence known with a hearty squawk, prompting Madeiros to step outside.

“I was very astonished,” Medeiros said.

To avoid being a bad host to the unexpected visitor, Medeiros decided to provide the bird a snack.

Medeiros reached for a banana and extended it to her.

“At first, she was quite frightened and skittish, but that changed when she spotted the banana,” Medeiros explained. “It was very magical.”

And thus began a fantastic love story.

Following that initial encounter, the parrot flew away to rejoin her flock in a neighboring tree. She wouldn’t be gone for long, though.

She returned the next day. Medeiros also offered her some berries this time.

“She began to feel confident,” Medeiros added.

The small bird returned on the third day, even going so far as to enter Medeiros’ apartment.

“I felt chosen,” Medeiros explained.

Tatá was named by Medeiros.

Tatá would always fly back to where her flock was after their visits. However, the visits did not stop.

Tatá began taking a more proactive approach to grab Medeiros’ attention rather than waiting for her on the porch. Medeiros began receiving early-morning wake-up calls.

“She’d come to my house at 6:30 a.m. and knock on the window until I opened it and let her in,” Medeiros explained.

Tatá had found love.

This happened every day. Each visit became longer and longer. Tatá and Medeiros were soon seldom apart.

“She’d spend the majority of the day with me,” Medeiros explained. “Then, about 6:30 p.m., she’d fly with the rest of her flock to the top of a tree near my house.”

Medeiros had also fallen in love with Tatá.

It took some getting used to being woken up every day by a bird. But it was all worth it because of the bond Medeiros and Tatá had built.

“I never expected such a swift and powerful relationship between a wild animal and a human being,” Medeiros remarked.

CAROLINA MEDEIROS

Tatá and Medeiros’ connection was notable in part because the young bird was always free to explore the environment. And it appears she did just that one day.

“Tatá came to see me for seven days and then left with her flock,” Medeiros explained. “I enjoy being able to fly, but I always return to those I love, just as Tatá did to me.”

WIKIMEDIA

It’s impossible to predict whether Tatá will return to Medeiros or if she’s led her flock to a new home for good. But she’s always welcome to return.

“She owns the house,” Medeiros stated. “I used to make the joke that I was her pet human. I’ll always be on the lookout for her.”

Whether or whether Tatá returns, the memories she leaves behind are ones Medeiros will never forget.

“Our bond was one-of-a-kind and extraordinary,” she claimed. “Tatá sensed my aim, as well as my affection and love. I definitely perceive animals differently now that I’ve had this experience.”
