“She saw the puppy tied to the fence with a shoestring …”
Stray Rescue of St. Louis in Missouri was recently contacted about a little dog that had been abandoned near a public garbage.
The terrified puppy trembled with despair – until a kind stranger walked by and phoned for help. Thankfully, they raced over to assist.
But first, they gave him the most adorable name.
“Shoestring was discovered by a nice and caring individual who was taking her garbage out,” Natalie Thompson, an employee of Stray Rescue of St. Louis, told The Dodo. “She saw the puppy was tied to the fence with a shoestring, which is how he received his name.” He was nervously shivering, so she contacted us and waited with him until our team came.”
The adorable puppy desperately needs to get out of this circumstances and into a loving home. Thompson and the crew made certain that Shoestring was examined by a veterinarian, that he was fed well, and that he was lavished with love.
Thompson described him as “a nice senior puppy in wonderful condition.” “We don’t know why he was bound and abandoned.”
As he relaxed into the warm arms of the rescue crew, Shoestring quickly forgot about the awful portions of that day.
“He melted into a complete lovebug as he realized he was safe!” Thompson explained. “He adores all dogs and humans.” He’s kind and gentle, and he enjoys playing and wrestling.”
Shoestring is now being cared after by a foster home, but he will be available for adoption once he has been neutered. The only stipulation is that potential adopters already have a lively, energetic dog so that Shoestring can get the second chance he deserves.
“He’s doing fantastic,” Thompson stated. “A kind foster family came to collect him so he wouldn’t have to stay in our overcrowded shelter.” There was no place for him to stay here, so we’re glad he’s happy and thankful in his foster family.”
Shoestring will undoubtedly be cherished as the jewel he is when he finds his permanent family.
