Sir David Attenborough’s “Last” Plea to Save The World Moved Viewers To Tears

Viewers have been left in tears by Sir David Attenborough’s urgent call for action to stop climate change and save the world. Many felt the Leicester legend’s urgent message was his – and possibly the planet’s – final plea for help.

Sir David directly addressed viewers during Sunday night’s final episode of the BBC series which looked into the effects of climate change on the coldest parts of the planet. The documentary laid clear the bleak future which included the death of penguins and polar bears while melting ice could spell danger for humanity too.

In an impassioned plea, Sir David called on everyone to act and do what they could to stop climate change. The 96-year-old, who grew up in Leicester, said: “If we can do something about it, then do it. We can do it. We must do it. Then there will be a future for the planet.”

The bleak message resonated with many viewers who were shocked by what they saw on screen. Many were left in tears by the distressing scenes but felt Sir David’s message was vital.

One viewer said: “Just wept watching Frozen Planet II – heartbreaking. Should be compulsory viewing for every single politician, leader, and policy maker. As Sir David Attenborough said ‘We can do it. We must do it. For the sake of our beautiful planet, we have to act now and all do our bit.”

“Christ. That feels like his last TV plea doesn’t it?” remarked another.

A third said: “Never have there been more powerful words from Sir David Attenborough.”

Many others felt Sir David’s words meant more now knowing how long he has been working on raising awareness of climate change. One said: “Watching Frozen Planet II is so sad. Knowing David Attenborough has spent nearly all his life researching and filming all kinds of animal life sharing to the world what we can/need to do to save them as well as our planet but nothing ever really gets done about it.”

A second said: “For decades I’ve adored Sir David Attenborough and his wonderful wildlife programs which were so uplifting. Now watching his latest Frozen Planet series I just want to cry with despair at how we are destroying everything in the world.”

Despite the harrowing viewing, many still took time to praise Sir David’s work on the show. One believed the living Leicester legend should receive a high honor.

They said: “David Attenborough should get the Nobel Prize for his lifetime’s work.”

A second said: “Got to say – total respect for Sir David Attenborough. 96 years old and still talking sense. Our politicians could take a leaf out of his book.”

“It was a poignant end to an engrossing and spectacular series. Thank you to Sir David Attenborough and everything involved in bringing us this series,” said a third.

The full series of Frozen Planet II can be viewed now on the BBC iPlayer.

Oh, if only there were so many more David A’s in this world. Why are so many of us blind to the fact that so very much needs to be done throughout the entire Earth to save it and us?
