Shelter dog “loses hope” after being returned three hours after being adopted — then gets a second chance

Every shelter dog dreams of finding a home of their own, and there’s nothing sweeter than the moment they finally get adopted. But sadly, the moment doesn’t always last, and pets are returned to the shelter.

Recently, one longtime shelter resident was adopted only to be returned three hours later. But now, he’s getting another chance at a happy ending.

Bronco, a 2-year-old Catahoula leopard dog, arrived at the Humane Society of Tulsa back in June after being found chained-up during an FBI homicide investigation.

According to Newsweek, he was rescued alongside 13 other dogs and 31 chickens, all with signs of neglect and left with no access to food or water.

Despite his rough past, Bronco is a playful and active dog, described as having an “energetic spirit and heart of gold.”

However, no one seemed interested in giving this sweet dog a home: months went by, and Bronco became the shelter’s longest resident.

On Saturday, it seemed like Bronco’s long wait was finally over: according to the shelter “the most amazing man” came to adopt Bronco and bring him home.

But the happy ending was short-lived: the man brought Bronco back to the Humane Society of Tulsa just three hours later, because the man’s other dog was “not welcoming to him.”

It just wasn’t meant to be, and Bronco was back to square one. “Bronco is losing hope,” the shelter wrote. But didn’t give up and continued searching for just the right forever home.

Bronco’s story went viral, and just days after his heartbreaking return another adopter from Nebraska reached out asking to adopt him!

According to a Facebook post from October 24, the family has a 10,000-plus acre ranch and have experience with the breed, making them a perfect candidate: the Humane Society wrote that Bronco is going to be “spoiled” in his big new home.

We’re so glad Bronco has finally found a loving forever home! Thank you to everyone who helped him get adopted!

Please share this great news!
