Man In Superhero Costume Rescues Stray Animals Across Mexico

A man in Mexico has gained widespread attention for dedicating his life to rescuing abandoned animals while dressed as a superhero.

Known as “Zadrigman,” the animal rescuer patrols streets, alleyways and even dumpsters in search of dogs and cats that have been neglected, injured or left behind. Accompanied by his small canine companion, Takito, he has helped dozens of animals find safety, medical care and permanent homes.

The mission began after the death of his beloved Siberian husky, Duke, who died from a bacterial infection in 2020. According to Zadrigman, the loss inspired him to make a promise that he would continue helping animals in need.

Determined to honor that promise, he launched his rescue work in 2021 and adopted the superhero persona that has since become recognized throughout his community.

Unlike many online personalities, Zadrigman says the costume is not intended to draw attention to himself. Instead, he hopes it encourages children to develop compassion for animals and inspires others to help those who cannot speak for themselves.

Over the years, he has responded to countless calls involving stray and abandoned animals. One of the most memorable rescues involved a bulldog that had reportedly been discarded in a dumpster and left unable to walk. After being rescued and receiving proper care, the dog recovered and was given a second chance at life.

Residents frequently stop to take photographs with the costumed rescuer, while children often view him as a real-life superhero.

Animal welfare advocates say his efforts highlight the important role individuals can play in addressing the growing challenges faced by stray animals and overcrowded shelters.

While fictional superheroes may save cities on movie screens, supporters say Zadrigman is making a difference in the real world—one rescue at a time.
