A Shelter Dog With A Unique Face Just Wants To Be Loved

“He was just born that beautiful.”

What you see is what you get with Aardvark: a funny, lovable pooch who is just as wonderful on the inside as he is on the outside.

Aardvark was rescued as a stray on the streets of Baltimore City by a Good Samaritan in January and sent to the Maryland SPCA (MDSPCA). The personnel at the shelter couldn’t believe their eyes when they spotted a 50-pound dog with a cartoon face and flipper-like paws.

Brittany Roger, a digital expert with the MDSPCA, told The Dodo, “Honestly, nobody could take him seriously.” “His appearance and personality elicited a lot of laughter.”

Aardvark was just 8 months old when he was examined by the shelter’s veterinarians, and his little lower jaw had been with him from birth. “Most people believe he was in some sort of accident,” Roger explained. “However, they are instantly relieved to learn that he was just born that attractive.”

Aardvark’s facial abnormality does not appear to disturb him or prevent him from being a decent youngster. “Not only does he eat well, but he also enjoys chewing on objects — although in a non-destructive manner,” Roger explained. “His goofiness is all the more appealing since he’s happy and healthy.”

Aardvark’s laidback nature is the only thing nicer than his charming looks. The unusual dog just appears to be pleased to be in the presence of people who care about him and love his company.

Roger described him as “an lively, joyful, gregarious little boy.” “We have a lot of fun dressing him up and taking him around since he isn’t bothered by anything.”

Unfortunately, Aardvark has had a difficult time finding a forever home. He’s a “one-size-fits-all” dog who’s “so chummy that [he] could become friends with a brick wall,” according to the shelter, but potential adopters keep letting him down.

“He’s had a few applications, but they keep falling through for one reason or another,” Roger explained. “It’s not his fault, but he’s been dealt a lousy hand.”

Hopefully, Aardvark will find a home soon and be able to give all of his love to someone who recognizes him for the unique dog that he is.
