After Several Years Of Separation, A Mother Elephant Weeps And Caresses Her Adoptive Kid

After many years apart, a mother elephant weeps and caresses her adoptive youngster.

“An elephant never forgets,” as the saying goes, applies to all parts of an animal’s existence, including motherhood. A moving Thai story demonstrates how motherhood flourishes in animals, even when the mother and daughter are not biologically related.

There are two separations.

A newborn elephant named Mebai was abducted from its birth mother and sold to a tourist camp that specialized in jungle trekking in Thailand. Mebai befriended an elderly female elephant called Mae Boon Sri while at the camp. According to LittleThings.com, the elder animal looks after the smaller one as if Mebai were her daughter.

Mebai was later reunited with her original mother after being released to an elephant sanctuary. However, Mae Boon Sri no longer had a daughter, and Mebai was estranged from her mom for the second time in her life.

Reunion

Years after Mebai was separated from her mother, the elder elephant was recovered and transported to the elephant sanctuary on foot. The elephant resigned from his work at the travel agency since her back could no longer support the weight of a person. The travel took many days, but it was definitely worth it in the end. A video team documented the journey that humans had with Mae Boon Sri to her new home.

What followed was nothing short of a miracle. Mae Boon Sri was reunited with her adoptive daughter and met Mebai’s real mother for the first time after entering the reserve.

The video below shows both mothers examining each other and making happy noises. The baby elephant, who was six years old at the time of the reunion, stroked both of her moms while dressed in the same clothing to demonstrate her gratitude and love for both of her children.

“You can hear the delight” in the big creatures’ trumpets, sounds, and voices, according to Handlers. Baby elephants live with their moms as members of a herd for the rest of their lives. An elephant’s health might suffer greatly if she is separated from her mother for an extended length of time.

What would a human mother do if her child was kidnapped against her will? The reunion would be filled with ecstatic, joyful noises of laughing and tears, embracing and kissing when they saw the youngster again. Maybe we’re not that dissimilar.
