An amazing natural wonder has been captured by Australian photographer Derry Moroney after months of heavy rain and storms in northern New South Wales. Using his drone, Moroney was able to capture a breathtaking “Tree of Life” forming over Cakora Lake, located two hours south of Byron Bay.

From the ground, the lake appeared no different, but when Moroney saw the footage from his drone, he was “totally shocked”. At an altitude of 119 meters, the drone captured the amazing “Tree of Life” formation that had formed on the lake’s water after heavy rains. The water was saturated with tree oils, making it brown and creating a realistic tree-like pattern as the oils settled in the lake.

Lake Cakora is situated on the North Coast of Australia’s New South Wales state and is known for its stunning beaches and natural landmarks. The lake is at times inundated by ocean tides, making its waters rise and fall with the rain.

Moroney, an experienced nature photographer, began photographing the lake using different drone camera techniques about a year ago. He has been tracking the tree’s shifting colors and size on his Instagram page and has returned to the lake every two weeks to capture changes, noticing the variable shapes and colors after about six months.

This particular “Tree of Life” image went viral and has impressed people around the world with its sense of beauty and wonder. Moroney’s dedication to capturing the changing nature of the lake over time has paid off in an extremely worthwhile effort, creating a natural masterpiece that will be remembered for years to come.
