Lori Naumann, the spokesperson for the Nongame Wildlife Program in Minnesota’s Department of Natural Resources, reported that despite the seemingly overwhelming snow, the devoted eagle persevered. By the following morning, she had successfully shrugged off the snow blanket and, with unparalleled tenderness, rolled her eggs to ensure their warmth and protection.
The incident unfolded on the EagleCam, a vigilant 24/7 observation system set up to monitor the eagles and their forthcoming offspring in the Twin City metro area. To keep her eggs warm and secure, the eagle had diligently buried them in a specially prepared hole, known as a bole, encircled by an assortment of leaves, sticks, grasses, and branches.
