A well-known pair of bald eagles in Big Bear Lake have welcomed two new chicks, drawing attention from wildlife observers following their nesting season.
The eagles, named Jackie and Shadow, saw their first eaglet hatch early Sunday morning after a process that reportedly lasted around 36 hours. Footage from the nest showed the newly emerged chick moving shortly after breaking free from its egg.
The second eaglet followed soon after, hatching later the same morning. Both chicks are now being monitored as they adjust to life in the nest.
The updates were shared by the nonprofit Friends of Big Bear Valley, which has been providing live coverage of the nest and regular updates throughout the breeding season.
