“She treats her like her sister” ❤️
This adorable puppy named Luna was filled with pleasure and anticipation in the months leading up to the arrival of her newborn sister, Martina. She appeared to be fully aware that she was going to have a new best buddy and playmate.
Luna insisted on staying at mom Mara Fernanda Osterling’s side throughout the pregnancy.
“I was wondering if it would continue when Martina was born,” Osterling told The Dodo. “I was also pleasantly pleased.”
Luna welcomed Martina with even more zeal than Osterling had anticipated for as soon as she was born.
“She treats her as if she were her sister,” Osterling explained. “She defends her, looks after her, and sleeps by her side when Marti does.”
But what Luna doesn’t seem to see yet is that Martina has to mature before the enjoyment between them can begin.
Osterling watched Luna enter the room the other day with her beloved blue ball in her jaws, the pup’s go-to signal to her parents that she wants to play fetch.
Rather than handing it to an adult in the room, Luna gave it to Martina, who was obviously ignorant that tossing a ball is a little above the newborn’s capacity.

Luna may have been confused that Martina didn’t pick up on the hint, but she appeared content to engage that new small person in on the fun nonetheless.
“I was affected because it showed me that Luna loves Martina, even though Martina can’t show her the same,” Osterling added. “I know Luna adores her and longs to be with her and play.”
Fortunately, Martina will soon be able to fully join in playtime. For Luna, the wait was well worth it.
Seeing how attached Luna is to Martina already gives them a pleasant insight of the lifetime of love and enjoyment that awaiting them.
“I’m confident they’ll be wonderful friends and sisters when Martina grows up,” Osterling added. “The power of a small animal to offer us love is limitless.” And Luna is really good at expressing herself.”
