Incredible wildlife photos of a huge cat pair have gone viral after being uploaded on Instagram, looking like something straight out of a David Attenborough film.

Followers of wildlife photographer Mithun H were overjoyed when he shared photos of “The Eternal Couple,” a leopard and black panther who had chosen each other as mates.

According to the photographer, the large cats had been together for a long time, having spent four years roaming the woods of Kabini in Karnataka, India.

Despite the fact that he’d seen Saaya the panther and Cleopatra the leopard previously, this is the first time they’ve been photographed together. To be honest, it was well worth the wait.

“Saaya and Cleopatra have been courting for 4 years now and whenever they are together it’s a sight to witness,” Mithun posted on Instagram on Monday (20 July).

“As they jog around his famous domain, the woodland comes alive. In most courting pairings, the male takes command and goes about first, with the female following closely behind. But with this couple, it was clear that Cleo was in command, with the Panther trailing after.

“On a weird winter morning, a single Deer alarm took me to this amazing sight,” says the photographer.

They form an attractive couple, according to the internet. The post has over 84,000 likes and almost 2,000 comments as of this writing, one of which writes, “Absolutely lovely shot!”

“Never seen such a fascinating duo!” said another, while a third added, “Never seen such a dream vision!” “Nature is incredible!”

The photos were shot at the Kabini Forest Reserve in Karnataka, which is one of the state’s most popular wildlife locations.

“I had to wait for six days in the same position for this since I could hear the Panther and Cleopatra mating approximately 100 meters away in the dense foliage but couldn’t see them because to poor sight,” Mithun, 31, told The Indian Express.

“They’d made a massive kill and were refusing to move until it was finished. That’s when the Panther’s expertise and years of experience following and tracking it came in help.

“All I had to do was wait at one of his favorite trails, since it was where he would grab her because it was the edge of his domain, which he did after six days.”

“However, the wait was worthwhile. I’d be willing to wait six years for a moment like this.”
