Aibek Almasov, an architect with the A.Masow Design Studio, created a proposal for a contemporary spiritual retreat that would be situated in a forest in the highlands of Almaty, Kazakhstan. The “Tree in the House” idea features a cylindrical, four-story glass chamber with a tree enclosed in the middle. Visitors to the “tree house” can reach the tall area by spiraling upward around the central tree via a winding white stairway.
The translucent building, hidden among tall fir trees, was built with the idea of fusing industrial design with nature and “giving up some needless conditions and objects.” By seamlessly integrating a safe dwelling with a natural setting, the idea hopes to provide an alternative to hectic city life and oppressive urban architecture.
